Photoshop

I was messing around in Photoshop...This initially was going to be a landscape...but it took on a different look. What do you think it is?

Scatter Brain!!

...You know what...i'm over here working on so many projects at one time. Man...I guess I'll be working on my music video and this comic thing. Another bad thing is..I have another idea..for another comic. But I'll put that one to the side for the moment, that's going to be more serious and detailed comic, so i have time to work on that on a later date. Now as for this comic...and the music video, what i think i'll do is draw it all in photoshop and animate it there instead of doing it all in...Flash. That was my plan, then again i might change my mind and do it in Flash anyway. (FRUSTRATION!!!)I'll let ya know.

Eve

Here's another thing I colored a few minutes ago. This is Eve and she is the main character for a story that I'm working on. I'm going to do this in comic book form, so I think this will help me learn how to do sequential art better than how i do now. We'll see how it turns out. I finally came up with a color palette for her. I wanted more Earthy tones because of the type of evironment that she will be in for the story plus i thought it went really well with her skin tone. Now I need to make up her partner in crime's final look and color palette as well. I'll update...as needed.

Bree_colored

Something that i colored in really quick in Photoshop this morning...nothing serious. It's Bree from a previous Flash animation cartoon that I was working on. I just had a sketch of her that i never attempted to color...so i went ahead and did it just for the hell of it.

Stuff

Well...instead of updating you on my music video...which is still in production...I will just throw in a couple things that i've done since FINALLY learning how to color decently in Photoshop...Man. But anyway, these are some characters that I'm helping my friend Luis out with for his story called Delirium. The guy in brown is Aiden and the blonde is Yixil. They are the main characters in the story. I sketched and colored these characters. Luis also helped in coloring as well...well i was helping him learn how to paint in Photoshop, but he was great, he did a good job helping me.

This little character is for a new story that I'm working on. I'm planning on drawing a comic about it. I think this would be a great way to kick up my style a bit more since i really haven't drawn anything serious in a very long time. So maybe this will be something that will really help me explore my full potential and spread out my experience in another direction.

Messy boards

Well here are my boards I have a couple missing scenes because I wasn't too sure how to sketch them out to make them more dynamic. These were colored in photoshop. I attempted to do it all in Flash, but it took too much time to do it...plus Flash for some odd reason kept crashing me whenever tried to work on the animatic. So I don't have an animated animatic. How great is that!!

Expressions

Some of her expressions. I'm still playing around with them. There will be more.

Action poses...I guess

Here are a couple action pose sketches thatI did really quick. I have more to draw but I just wanted to show this. This is her trying to be brave in the left pic and in the right is her on her flying staff trying to save kitty from falling. I really like this one for some reason.

KITTY!!!

Here is Emi's little sidekick. I don't even have a name for the little dickens..but I'll think of something later. I was just trying to find a good style for the kitty. Didn't want to get too detail in the build up. Just went for the simple round shapes.

Wand/Staff and Pendant

Well here is a quick sketch up of Emi's staff/wand and the pendant that she always wears around her neck. Nothing fancy.

A new Emi!!!

OK now, this is my other style approach. I looked at the old model sheet and tried to use some of the same elements that i used to build her. Simplified. I kept the head shape from the model sheet. I wanted her head to be bigger than her body rather than it to be exactly proportional to it. Her limbs are long and lean and her clothes drape over her like a sheet. I wanted to emphasize her youth and awkwardness with the big clothes. I made her eyes a little bigger and her hair droopier. I'm really going for the droopy look. Seems like it'd be more fitting to her personality. Young inexperienced, awkward. Her brows are almost always turned downwards, so she's constantly frowning. I feel that this style looks more like her. Plus if I think that if I were to put her next to her grandma's style, they would fit perfectly together. The other "grown up" style would have made her look a little out of place. I'm going to stick with this one and just play around with it a little more. Next will be a couple expressions sheets, action poses, mouth shapes...and anything else of her that I make up.

Brat or Misunderstood?

Being a brat in the top corner, but lonely at the bottom

Obnoxious

I liked the emotion in the bottom corner. I'm trying to find that obnoxious look for her. This is still going into the too realistic look. Don't want that.

All grown up

A couple action poses. Nothing too serious, but she looks too grown up in them.

More of the same style

More of the same style.

Character style

Ok, so this was my attempt in trying to capture Emi in a different style than the model sheet. i liked the way she looked, but she took on a more adult look. I want her to stay young looking and this wasn't working. But i like the way her face came out. This is my usual style of characters, so in order to get a different look, i have to work outside of my style.

Emi Model Sheet

Well here is Emi...I like her...but I completely changed her. I'm so ready to show you all the revised version, but until I get to school tomorrow...or Friday, I can' t put anything on here. But I'll be trying to decide between this design or the new one. It's going to be a tough decision

Emi's Grandma

Ok, so i was doing some sketches for Emi's grandma and this is what I came up with. I was going for that old but wise and gentle look. The one on the left was my first idea, but after a little messing around with references and trying to capture the same look, i came up with the one on the right. I think I should put the dress back on her in the right pic. I guess I'll play around with her a little bit more. Anyway, I know she's really detailed and it'll be hard to animate in flash, so I'm going to simplify her some more. I just wanted to show what I came up with. But in a way i think i want to keep her the way that she is. She won't really be moving around a lot in my animation, so maybe I can get away with it.

What exactly is an Eilder?

Ok, to let you all know. Here is what an Eilder is.

Eilder...Supposibly...I spelled it wrong in Word...dumb spell checker. Anyway, an Eilder is a very powerful being that can conjure up both dark and light magic. They are also summoners who can summon great spirits from beyond their world. There are three categories of Eilders: Eilderling, Great, and Divine. Eilderlings are young Eilders in thier learning stages, (that is Emi). Great Eilders (Emi's Grandmother) are Eilders who have mastered all elements of magic. They can be old or young (adult). A Divine Eilder is a rare occurance. Not many can obtain this level of power. A Divine Eilder is almost immortal. Great Eilders have a choice to either stay the way they are or become a Divine. Being a Divine Eilder can bring great power but also great sacrifices. Those who became Divine were so overwhelmed with power that either they couldn't handle it and were killed or they became obsessed with the power and use it for the wrong reasons. On a rarity does on actually survive the transformation and use the power in a positive way. Those who survive become spirits or angels or other forms. The tranformations are very different for everyone...if they reach that point. Now...i just have to figure out how a Great Eilder can becomes a Divine...but anyway....Eilders are not just something you wake up and decide to be one day. Eildership is something that is passed down through lineage. Now...there will be more to it...when I figure out what else is there that i want to add. I will post pictures of a couple depictions of Great and Divine Eilders. I really want to draw the Divines because they can take on so many different forms, so it will be interesting to draw and just let my imagination go wild.

Currently doing some drawings

Well I have a couple more concept drawings that I've drawn up today. Can't scan them in because my scanner sucks...it's too small. Basically I was trying to find her emotions in the drawings. There are a couple of her being happy, mellow, upset, and obnoxious. I'm having fun drawing her personality. It's interesting trying to find the right look for her that I can say...it's her personality and it's natural. so, yea, I'll be drawing up some more, More than likely when i catch a ride to school tomorrow, I can use a scanner at the school and get them all in so you can see them.

I'm feeling more of a modern yet old world type feel for Emi's world. I wanna mix it up a little. Here is a link that you can click on to see the look that I'm I'm trying to go for... http://www.storybookhomes.biz/. I've always been in love with this type of style. To adjust to the world, i changed her outfit to give it an old world as well as modern look. I'm keeping the dark gray/black dress, but i threw on a little vest to go over it. As for her shoes...still working on it. I'm leaving off the hat. Felt that it was too bulky and clique. I might give her a hat, but I'm going to completely modify it and make it my own if i do. I've also given her a long wand. Unlike the typical witch carrying and riding a broomstick, I want the wand to be the "broomstick". Her grandmother passed the wand down to her to use. She also has a pendant that she wears around her neck. The pendant is also passed down to her and is a symbol of her becoming the next Eilder. No one but Emi can wear the pendant. It's very powerful and acts as her guardian when she needs help. As for her wand...she;s still in training to learn how to use it. She can't fly very well on it. She doesn't know how to cast spells with it...or anything. Only thing she knows how to do is...carry it around. But anyway, I'm still fleshing her out a little more, bit by bit. I'm liking the way she's coming out to be though. This is going to be fun.
